Last week, I made a trek to the NASA Space Center....alone. The one thing I fear the most is "losing my mind..." so I do Crosswords, logic things, etc. I had a wonderful day at the Space Center and did very well...I saw and experienced everything I had hoped for.
I went on the bus tour "NASA UP CLOSE".....boarded the bus, was able to get a front seat which is great for me, due to fake knees, etc....and as we were off and on the bus alot during the tour (when we came to photo opportunity stops".) I was always able to be the first one "off"...safely. We finally came to a place that looked like the place where we boarded the bus...said our thanks to the host and driver and ended up in a room to view something. As for me, I thought the tour was over. I watched the "video"...and viewed other things in that building....went outside to find my way back to the IMAX area. It wasn't there....I walked around everywhere and could not find the way to this area. I never heard anyone give any directions as to what the "plan" was. I finally asked someone with a badge and whistle how to get to the IMAX area. She very firmly told me to go sit on a certain bench. My goodness....she acted like a school teacher, yelling at one of her students. She was very "firm" in her directive...but me, lol, I got up and started walking to what looked like the path I had walked into the tour area at the SC. Around the corner was a gentleman with a badge and whistle who told me to go board a bus... About that time, the badge and whistle lady looked my way and I wasn't in my "assigned spot"....so I told the man, that SHE told me to sit there...and he said...go board that bus...and I said...she wins...I'm going to sit right here until that lady tells me to move.
She was "boarding" the bus with passengers and was about to "wave it off"..when she looked my way and there I was dutifully sitting on the bench with the man yelling at me to go board the bus. Disgustedly, she waved to me...to board the bus...and since I was the last one on, I had to walk to the very back, not quite where I wanted to be...guess I need to wear my blue handicapped parking thing around my neck. I was going to take my cane...but couldn't find one in our truck before I left. A cane is just a "visual" warning, that "this person" needs a little space and maybe a little consideration.
We went miles on that bus. I had no idea we were that far from where I thought we were. When we left the tour bus, it looked to be the end of the tour....no indication of anything different. I still can't figure out where I went wrong....and since this departure area looked just like the one I left from originally....duh. I would still be out there walking...........
It does irritate me that no one was kind enough to explain what the situation was and what the plan was.....I'm not that far gone yet. I can still hear quite well and follow directions.............
